I saw the frail little old lady fall into the street. There were people closer to her than i was just walking past.
I shook my head and made my way over to her, just before reaching her i cause a glimpse of a cab in the corner of my eye. It wasn't slowing down, I dashed as fast as i could and scooped up the Woman and pulled her back onto the sidewalk.
The mirror of the cab grazed my arm and ripped my Jacket.
I watched as the cab didn't even slow down, it just kept going.
I put the old lady down. 'thank you, thank you.' she said, 'you risked your life for me!'
'No, it was nothing,' i told her, 'anyone would have done the same.'
She looked around, 'all these people and not one person tried to help but you. i hardly think anyone is as noble as you.'
She had a point, not one person had even noticed i had saved her.
'you must let me repay you.' she said.
I tried to tell her no, but she just started at me hopefully.
'well how about you buy me lunch?' i suggested.
She smiled. 'That sounds great! How about today?'
I hadn't really thought it through 'umm sure, today would be fine.' i couldn't think of a reason why not.
I dung into my pocket and pulled out a business card.
'heres my card with the address of where i work, its not far from here.' i said as i handed her the card.
As i handed her the card she said, 'take this too,' as she slipped a ring on my finger.
'it belonged to a noble man with a pure heart, just like you.' She said sweetly, as she looked at me all doe eyed. I couldn't say no.
She had the most amazing ice blue eyes, for second i could help but wonder what she looked like back in the day.
'Alright, i have to go, i'm gonna be late for work. You have the address. Meet me at noon.' I told her and started to run to work.
