"Ugly is as ugly does, and ugliest of all you shall be. Serpents writhe, dragons roar, insects squirm, now this foolish mortal will learn. In Minerva and Hecate's names, I curse you now forever change. Nothing more hideous on this earth there now be, save thee!" She ended cackling. In the windowless room, I felt a chilling wind, and thunder roared nearby. My skin was crawling, like a million insects. Shit it was a million insects, one multi-legged monstrosity dashed across my open eye ball. My head was thrust upward on the cot as things pushed out of my skull and writhed around my face and neck. One arched back and faced me. It was the head of a snake, blackish green scales, and dead yellow eyes. It lashed its black tongue at me, then darted away, only to be replaced by three more newborn snake heads. I screamed.
The fat witch cackled, "I'm better than I thought, in league with the best of them. You're so hideous, I bet your face could turn a person into sto-o-o-o-ne...No-o-o-o-o!"
I was now able to sit up, whatever force had held me still was no more. The fat witch had turned to solid stone. The planks of the wood floor creaked and strained under her increased weight. I walked cautiously around examining her. I tapped. She was solid stone dressed in a moomoo. I had no desire to see what she looked like underneath her tent. I was afraid to think what I must look like, if my face could turn this ugly witch to stone. The serpents writhed around my head. I knew that spell remained intact. I went to the door, I had to find a mirror.
Behind me the creaking noise became a cracking noise as the floor gave way with a thunderous crash. I looked back into the gaping hole at the shattered stone figure that had once been a fat, old witch. Justice was served.
Now to find a mirror and get back to pillaging.
