... a tribal village. Cassandra saw that all the huts were small, and all those there were 3-year-olds, but something was odd about them.
First, all the boys wore loin-clothes, and the girls wore dresses made of leaves.
Second, they all had messy, wild hair, pointy ears, freckles all over, and long tails with tufts of hair at the tips the same as on their heads.
They all seemed happy.
When they saw her, they all ran to joyfully greet her, welcoming them to their village.
"I'm Mo," said a boy with blonde hair "what's your name?"
"Cassandra," she said "and it's nice to meet you."
"I'm Kiki." said a girl with orange hair "Are you thirsty?"
"You read my mind." Cassandra said.
"Then here you go!" Kiki said, happily giving her a coconut to drink out of.
"Thanks." Cassandra said, drinking the coconut milk.
"Sure Cassie," Kiki said "anything for a new sister."
"Sister?" Cassandra asked, as her ears became pointy "And my name is Cassandra, not Cassie." she said as freckles erupted all over her body.
"I know," Kiki said, as a tuffed tail popped out the back of Cassandra's pants "but Cassie is much easier to say, and we are a simple people."
"What are you?" Cassandra asked before rapidly shrinking into her clothes.
"We're the Cub Tribe," Kiki said "and you're now one of us - welcome, new sister!"
After a few minuets, Cassie, as she was now called, wore a leaf dress like all the other cub girls - she was now one of them.
"Don't worry," Kiki said, patting her on the shoulder "you'll get used to it. I was just like you were when I came here. I know you're scared, but
you'll see that becoming a cub tribe member is the best thing to happen to you. We play all day and never grow up, and you won't miss your
family - we'll be your family, and your friends! Now let me help you find a place to stay.
So Cassie now lived in a hut of her own. She had been there only one day. "What am I gonna do?" she asked herself.
What will Cassie do?
