"Oh well we were -uh- just trying to see how we did on our last test in her class." started Alan. Dale and Mitch nod their heads.
"The last test was three weeks ago." says Stacy icely. "You know I don't like being lied to Alan. Either tell me what's REALLY going on or you'll see last week repeated."
The three look at each other, not liking the sound -or scent- of this at all. They then start babbling about the botched spell and their confusion, along with some of their theories on what happened. At the end Stacy looks thoughtful.
"Sounds like you three got into a real mess. So you suspect Dr. C of being a deity of some sort who brought you here for her own personal amusement? Hmm."
"What did she mean about a dance?" asks Dale.
"Oh, there's a special 'full moon' dance tonight. On our world dances were created to celebrate the full moon. Everyone usually comes. Alan - my Alan - had invited me. Dale was going to go out with Mary, and Mitch was going out with Hank."
"Hank?" gulps Mitch.
"Ut oh, don't tell me you're not gay?"
"Um, well, I've never really, um." Mitch starts giving of scents of extreme embarassment.
"Great. Well let me try and get you three up to speed. First, Mary is a very sweet Boarder Collie who Dale has been going out with for over a year now. We're probably going to have to let her in otherwise she's going to know something's wrong. Fortunately our Mitch is something of a playboy. He and Hank are just friends right now and probably will only stay together until after the dance."
"But I'm not sure how I could do that." protests Mitch.
"And I wouldn't know Mary from anyone else. Besides, it could get dangerous if we let more people in on our secret." points out Dale.
"Hmm. Good points. Well I HAVE studied some spells about this, I could give you three potions so you'd be able to act more normally, if you want."
"How long would they last?" asks Dale, who was always wary about mind-affecting magic.
"Twenty-four hours. You'd have to trust me, though.'
The three look at each other. Mitch spoke first "Could you give us a little time? We need to decide."
Stacy nods and they go out of hearing range. "So what do we do?" asks Dale "If we don't take the potions we run the risk of exposing ourselves. If we do we might never be the same again."
"I think we can trust Stacy." says Alan.
"But why would she want to give YOU a potion?" asks Mitch.
"Probably to help me dance." Alan says with a grin.
Mitch and Dale sigh. Dale asks "So which is it then? Try and blend in naturally or use magic?"
