We decided on the new werewolf movie that had just come out on DVD. I was excited to see it since I heard the special effects were amazing, especially during the transformation sequences. My sister agreed since she liked scary movies and thought the main guy was cute. We felt it was especially appropriate since it was a full moon that night.
We watched the movie together, fully engrossed in the film. I started to feel funny when we started to get near the first transformation scene. I started to squirm in my seat a little. I always enjoyed the transformation scenes in movies, especially with werewolf movies. I always wondered what it would be like to grow fur and claws, have my face push out into a snout. Little did I know I was about to get my wish.
"Are you okay?" asked my sister.
"I'm not sure," I replied.
She looked up at my face. "Dude, you're looking rather scruffy. And what's up with your eyes?"
"Wha..." I started when I saw on the screen the main guy was checking himself out in his bathroom mirror as the transformation starts. I'm not sure why, but I jumped up in a panic and checked out myself in the mirror above the fireplace. Starting back was still me, but with amber colored eyes and I looked like I hadn't shaved in a week. There was something else too, my upper and lower canines were longer too. I turned back to my sister with a look of panic on my face.
"Are you seeing this?" I asked, the panic registering in my voice.
"Oh my god...your ears..." she whispered and I turned back in time to watch them finish growing out to points.
"This can't be happening," I cried out as my body became wracked with pain. The changes accelerated as my muscles swelled and my body reformed, becoming more lupine. I heard fabric tearing as my clothing tore away, revealing my new, transforming body, covered in thick, brown fur. All the while, the main character in the movie went through the exact same transformation.
I watched as my fingernails grew out into long sharp claws. My bare feet stretched and reformed into digigrade paws. The best was saved for last as my face pushed out into a lupine snout. Through it all, my sister stood there and watched as her brother turned into a monster.
Slowly I rose up, wearing only the tattered remains of my jeans and checked myself out in the mirror. Staring back was a fearsome creature that I could only barely recognize as myself. I was still myself, for the most part, although the more primal, wolfish instincts were screaming too, telling me I needed to go out, that I needed to hunt. I tried to talk but all that came out were growls. I reached out and rubbed my sister's cheek, letting her know I was still me. Then I walked out the back door and ran off into the night. I figured, if I'm going to be a werewolf, I might as well enjoy it.
