"You know what?" You say, your fear removed and replaced by sudden confidence. "Take me to the lake! I mean,
come on! I'm sure as hell not waiting around as a squirrel!" Ronny leapt back at your unexpected outburst, and
his tiny pink hands trembled nervously.
"U…Uhhh…" He stumbled over his words, looking around nervously. "I-it isn't that easy. Y-you have to go
through there. Bye!" The rat fled after pointing to a hole in a tree, nervously disappearing into the bushes.
You watch him irritably, and begin to shout. However, your voice is drowned out by a louder, deeper on behind
you.
"You should've followed your friend." It spoke calmly, but it was sinister. A dark, cold shadow draped itself
over your furry body. Slowly, your eyes widen and you turn around. Standing above you, orange and black fur
smooth against its sleek body, was a fox. It grinned maliciously, brilliant white teeth glinting in the
darkness. "Too bad. I guess you're mine now."
It stretched out with a paw at lightning speed, but, out of instinct, your legs suddenly burst into action,
speeding into the tree faster than you could think. Before you knew it, you were in a dark vertical tunnel,
clinging on with dear life as it rattled and shook. You shut your eyes, hearing the fox's growls and snarls.
After what felt like a year, you open your eyes again and listen hard. The noises and the shaking have
stopped. You sigh in relief and look around. You're still clinging to the inside of the tree, and you soon
realise it's hollow. You feel a strange urge to laugh flow through your body: you're alive! You survived an
attack from a fox!
Another sound interrupts your momentary triumph. Your small furry ears prick up on the top of your head, and
you turn your head involuntarily to search for the source of the odd humming. Hesitantly, you move your head
upwards and spot what is making the noise: a vortex. A familiar female voice whispers from within.
"Hey! You! Yes, yes, it's me. Shut up. Get in here, now! That fox isn't what it seemed. Sure, it nearly killed
you, but now that it's gone, it's gonna call the Order. You better get out of here! NOW!" A slender hand, with
purple painted nails, reaches out to grab you, but you nimbly dodge downwards.
"We don't have time for this! They'll do worse things than kill you!" Your small black eyes stare at the open
hand for a moment, thoughts rushing through your head. What the hell is going on?
