You shake off the strange fear you feel when the colours seem to melt together, having never experienced
colour-blindness before. Taking a few deep breaths, you look at your hands, which have now become small, red-
furred paws. You flex the stubby fingers and jump when an odd squeaking voice whispers behind you.
"Psst!" You spin around. Behind you, a slim figure around your size dashes towards you, nimbly navigating the
uneven earth. "What are you doing out here?" It pops up from the grass, revealing a grey body, trailing off
into a thin pink tail. Its snout is covered with black and brown blotches, and its small black eyes stare at
you in exasperation.
"You'll get caught if you stay out here!" You begin to open your alien mouth to reply, but the rat interrupts.
"No time for questions! Come on! Let's go!" It reaches out with a small, thin hand, four fingers grabbing your
arm. It spins around and pulls you away, violently tugging on you. It's all you can do to stay upright as it
speeds across the grass towards the edge of the grass. In seconds, you were covered by the gnarled wood of an
old oak tree, stretching far above you. The rat turned and faced you for the second time.
"I'm Ronny." He held out a paw, which you tentatively shook. There was no flash or tingle, which made you
relax a little.
"You're a squirrel." Ronny said, and you look at him dully. "OK, you probably kinda guess that. Sorry…" Ronny
thought for a moment, then sighed as best a rat can.
"Alright. There's no point me telling you everything. I'll answer your questions, or I can just direct you to
the lake. I can take you home, too, but… you'd kinda stay as a squirrel." His dark eyes watch you uneasily as
you make your decision.
