It must have been the 50th or so time that night that Josh rolled him and Kyle back onto their back. Just as his dreams were starting to take him, Kyle's obnoxious and loud alarm went off. The jostled him awake and, by extension, Kyle. Groggily, he complained, "What the heck is that!"
Kyle groaned, "Its my alarm." He was on the side where his bedstand was, so he slapped the alarm off. Kyle then tried to sit up, but Josh resisted. "Josh... I have to get ready for school." He said while wiping the sleep from his eye with his one hand.
"So get up. I'll still be here... sleeping." Josh quickly replied.
"Josh?" Kyle asked, knowing Josh really didn't have a choice in the matter.
"Fine!" Josh exclaimed. Kyle pulled the covers off of them and sat up, dragging Josh as well. They stood up, shaky at first, but they quickly got their footing back. Kyle led them out of his room and into the bathroom while Josh complained the entire way. "I didn't get any sleep last, why do I need to get up with you?"
Kyle didn't answer, only forced them to lean forward so he could turn on the water for a shower. "Look Josh, you know as well as I do that there is no one to take your spot. Dad is already at work, Daniel probably won't want to join for awhile, Jake is over at Drake's, and Kevin... I don't know what he is up to."
"Why don't you call him?" Josh looked at him with sleepy eyes. He felt a little guilty still a bit about Daniel, but he was too tried to care right now.
"Uh, no. I'd rather talk with him face to face while we're not forced to be with each other first." Kyle said while avoiding Josh's eyes.
"Uh, fine. Lets get this over with." Josh gave in. They stripped and stepped into the shower. Despite all the times that Kyle had been joined, this was the first time he was actually forced to take a shower while joined. It was a whole new ball game. The water and soap made everything very slippery, so coordination was almost null. It took one misstep, one miscommunication fro the brothers to tumble over. Their back smashed hard against porcelain tub and Josh's head struck Kyle's. Josh instantly saw stars. It took him several moments to work out what happened in his head. It took several more to realize that his entire body, or rather his half of their entire body was in pain. Then he felt a warm liquid, that wasn't shower water, roll down onto the side of their back, where he could feel it. Josh finally looked over to kyle to make sure he was okay. Kyle was out cold, but not only that. When they had fallen, Kyle hit his head hard on the tub and was now bleeding from a large gash.
