...the princess of the realm and her maid. She looked at the genie with wide eyes. Then she stammered: "Who... who... what are you???" The maid tried to hide herself behind the princess. The genie looked at them. Both were really beautiful, and of the same age. Perhaps about twenty years old. Both were frightened of his appearance. Just out of his old behavior he said: "I am the genie of the bottle, and i grant three wishes to you!" He held his breath and wondered about his own stupidity. He was a free genie now. He had not to fulfill wishes of an owner now. He was free! But now, he said it, and he decided to stand to his words. He smiled gently, and waited.
The princess and the maid relaxed, and looked at each others face. "A genie!", said the maid with relief, "I worried about you beeing a demon or something like that!" He grinned even wider: "Am i so impressive?" It pleased him. "The princess said: "Well, what could i use a wish for? I am quite happy with my life. I don´t need anything right now. Perhaps i could wish for health and a generous and good husband to marry, but it is not urgent to me. Can my maid make a wish, too?" The genie thought for a second and answered: "Why not?"
The maid looked confused. "But i am happy with my life, too. My job is good, and i have everything i want. Perhaps i could use a wish in a few years, when things don´t turn the way i want them to. But now..." The genie laughed at them, and couln´t stop. "What do you laugh about?", asked the two young women in unison. The genie managed to giggle out: "It never happened before! My last 0wner made me a free genie, and i gave the wishes just out of old behavior. And now you don´t even want anything! It never happened before! Hahahaha!" He rolled on the floor, holding his stomach. The two started giggeling, too, and all three laughed themselves to tears. After a while, they sat exhausted on the carpet together, and smiled.
"It is fun with you!", said the genie. They both nodded: "And with you!" The maid said: "It is nice to laugh, at the palace is everything so serios." "Yes", agreed the princess. "If you want to stay with us and spice up our life in the palace, it would be fun! What do you think?" The genie thought about it, and nodded his head. "I would like to join you. I can make myself invisible to the other humans, and follow you during your daily business. This will be fun!" They shook their hands, and the princess and the maid dressed up for ...
