Jill sighed standing outside of her mother's office. She wanted to go see Saphira and ask a few questions since today was a teacher workday and there wasn't any public school. However Madam Yu's school did have classes today and her mother may not allow her to leave the school grounds. Taking a deep breath she knocked on the door and entered when told.
Jill's mother was at her desk and had been reading a file when she looked up and asked, "Did you need something Jill?"
Jill nodded and said, "I was wondering if I might leave the grounds today and go see a classmate of mine Mother."
Jill's mother pondered her request for a moment before saying, "You may go though you must be back for dinner. We have another boy coming in tonight so I need you to catalog his belongings."
"Thank you Mother," Jill said with a little bow. "I will be back on time."
"I'll call Alice and have her take you into town," Jill's mother said with a nod. "Be sure to take your phone with you and call Alice when you're ready to be picked up."
"I will Mother," Jill said bowing a little bit again and leaving.
So it was that Jill found herself in the park following Saphira. She wanted to ask her questions but she was with her older sister Jackie and she wanted to ask the questions in private. As she followed her through the park she caught sight of what was clearly a man in feminine clothes and acting a little feminine. Looking around she didn't see anyone giving him a second look which seemed a little strange. When Saphira had run past them she heard the guy ask the woman with him, "What's up?"
The woman grinned and hugged herself saying, "I just realized how cute you were in this light?"
The man grinned and indicating where Saphira had been asked, "Do you think she is too old to play with me?"
That question got Jill thinking that the guy may have come in contact with the note. When the woman mentioned going to the mall she decided to follow them to see if the guy had indeed come into contact with the note.
The two spent their time at the mall making small talk and wandering from store to store. A few times Jill caught an amused look on the woman's face like she knew something. It was about three when the man left the woman looking at a skirt and headed to another store. Curiously it was a children's clothing store which ordinarily wouldn't have seemed odd to her. There were men who bought clothes for their sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, or children of friends. However she had a hunch that this wasn't normal circumstances. As the man began to look at the swimsuits she decided to do the same. She could use a new one herself and she had a little bit of her allowance on her. She kept an eye on the man the whole time though and she was in a position to notice the woman come in as the man picked up a swimsuit and headed for the changing room. "Surely he's not going to try that on," Jill thought. "It's for a little girl, not a grown man. There's no way he'll fit into it unless the note is involved." Following the woman back to the changing room Jill figured that the note had to be involved from the man's question that morning.
The woman knocked on the door and the man called out, "Just a minute."
The woman looked around real quick and then asked, "Is everything alright?"
"Yes," the man replied. Before the woman could reply he came out of the dressing room wearing the swimsuit. The swimsuit wasn't stretched but it fit him. There was no question now. There was magic at work here. The man smiled and asked, "What do you think? Do you think it's cute and I look cute in it?"
The woman nodded and said, "You look beautiful," to which the man started jumping up and down like a little girl would.
As the man went back into the changing room the woman turned around and Jill quickly looked away pretending to browse through a nearby rack but watching out of the corner of her eye.
The woman knocked on the changing room door and said, "I am going up to the food court to get something to eat. Will you be all right?"
There was a muffled reply which Jill thought was a yes since the woman immediately left the store after. "It's obvious that one of them has made a wish with the note," she thought looking back and forth between the front of the store and the changing room. "Which one is it though? Who do I approach? Or maybe I should see if I can find Saphira alone and see what she remembers. What do I do?"
