Jess and Zoe rounded the corner and saw Jess’s house come into view. Angie was outside her own house throwing out the trash and she waved to Jess as she came close. Jess was one of the few people who was nice to her after all. Zoe giggled; remember what Jess had told her about Angie. She didn’t remember the Cheerleading Angie, only Jess did, but she still thought it was funny. Jess neared the house and began rummaging in her bag. It was clear no one was home, with the front door locked and the driveway empty. Jess searched but she just couldn’t find her key anywhere in her bag.
“Damn it,” she muttered as they both stood outside the front door. “Can’t find it anywhere.” Zoe looked about for an open window but couldn’t see anything. Resigned to not being able to find it, Jess sat down on the step. “The back door might be open?” She suggest to Zoe.
“You can come stay at mine until you mom gets home.” Angie chirped in from across the yard. Jess was a bit surprised but smiled at Angie’s offer.
