“No thanks Angie” Jess replied with a smile. “We’ll try round the back.” And with that she grabbed Zoe’s arm and pulled her around the corner. They approached the kitchen and went out of earshot of Angie. “I think I know how to get us inside.” Jess said knowingly.
Arriving on the patio behind her house, Jess looked triumphantly at the kitchen door. Zoe took a gaze at the unremarkable door. It was white, with a glass window that she could see through into the kitchen, and at the bottom of it was a cat flap, presumably for the previous owner as Jess’s family had never owned a cat. She leant forward and tried the handle but found it too was, unsurprisingly, locked.
“Its locked as well” Zoe commented as she looked back to Jess, who was still smiling like a school girl on Christmas. It was then Zoe realized exactly what she had in mind.
“Oh No!” She said as Jess removed the Chronivac yet again from her bag. “I’ve already been a dog today. A male one at that.”
“Oh come on Zoe, it will only be for a second.”
“No! Absolutely not!” She steadfastly refused. They both looked at each other and with the years of friendship they’d survived knew exactly what to do. Lightning quick, the threw down a hand of rock, paper, scissors.
