Iris loved taking walks through the woods, and today was the perfect day to do so. As always, she let herself wander aimlessly, as if she let the woods themselves guide her.
Suddenly, a sparkle on the ground caught her eye. Iris walked over to it and saw what at first appeared to be a doll lying face-down on the ground; the sparkle coming from the light blue, broad, clear wings on it’s back. Taking a closer look showed her that the blue-haired fairy’s dress was ripped and that she had bruises and cuts on her body.
A slight twitch of the fairy’s wings showed Iris that this was indeed a real fairy, still alive, but unconscious, and in need of treatment. After carefully checking for broken bones, Iris scooped the 8-inch fairy into her hands and rushed home as quick, but carefully as she could.
Back at her house, Iris took the fairy to the bathroom and laid her on a towel by the sink. She took out a cotton ball from her first-aid kit, dipped it into some warm water and gently cleaned the dirt off the fairy’s body focusing on the cuts, applying some rubbing alcohol to the cuts afterwards. She cut the padding and tape of a band-aid into small sections and used those to bandage the cuts. Having done all she could, Iris laid a washcloth over the fairy as a blanket and waited, hoping the tiny girl would recover.
An hour passed before the fairy finally stirred. She opened her eyes, sat up and looked inquisitively at the makeshift bed she was in.
“How do you feel?” Iris said. The fairy immediately looked up at Iris.
