Ben instantly is transported to an enchanted world. Taxi cabs are flying carpets. Every profession uses magic. There are sorceror physicians, sorceror bakers, banking wizards, and more. Ben is in an employment office. An acolyte calls Ben's name and he goes to get his assignment. He is told to report to a wizard called Jo, as his new assistant. Ben takes the slip, and proceeds to the address on the card, it is only a block away.
Ben is amazed how similar his former world and this parallel world are, and at the same time how different. He is standing in front of a plumber's shop. He goes through the door, perhaps there's a back office where the wizard works. A woman in purple overalls greets Ben, "How may I help you?"
"I'm looking for the a wizard named Joe, the Employment Bureau sent me."
"It's about time. And it's not Jo, it's Josephine. So, you're my new helper?" She looks Ben up and down.
Ben just stares, and then he says surveying the wrenches hanging from her tool belt, "I thought you were a plumber?"
"Yes, I'm Josephine the Plumbing Wizard! Now as my assistant, you'll get to know plumbing from the ground up. I transform my assistants into whatever tool I need to get the job done. Thereby you acquire intimate knowledge of how plumbing works and how to properly do the job of a plumbing wizard. We already have a job waiting, hope you're ready to dive right in!"
She waves her hand, before Ben can answer he and Josephine are transported magically into someone's bath room.
"A simple one to start. Observe the clogged toilet. Now apprentice what would you use to clear this mess?"
"A plunger?" Ben asks.
"That's right. Okay, helper it's time to dive in!"
"Huh, oooh!" Ben's mouth grows into a giant circle. His head turns into red rubber, and his body dwindles into a wooden stick. He is now a plunger. Josephine's gloved hand wraps around his body, and he heads mouth first toward the stopped up toilet.
Sorceror's Assistant = Plumber's Helper, who knew?
He'd have screamed if he could have as he plunged into the toilet.
