(Note: this isn't really a lesbian/bisexual chapter nor am I gonna deny that it could go that route if someone wants to try that. This is simply to test a psychological concept with limited basis in reality.)
As Claire finished talking, Jenn felt the curse take effect immediately. Slowly she regained her memories that had been lost or become fuzzy. She remembered how she felt around Nathan the last few days, her distraction in math class, her incident with Claire and the guilt that came with it but maybe most relevantly she remembered the cause...her phone call with Kyle that started it all. As her memories unfogged, she felt her body shifting.
Jenn ran to the mirror just in time to see the final changes happening. Her body had changed and the changes she had seemed to be minor. She seemed to be maybe a little taller than before but beyond that she seemed almost completely the same...though she also felt like her breasts may have shrunk very slightly...she'd have to check later. taking her eyes from her body, she looked at her face watching it change slightly. Her nose cracked, growing very slightly and her eye brows thinned out. Finally her hair shifted becoming red, the style changing to fit her new look. Finally her cheek bones shifted slightly redifining her facial structure. As the changes finished she looked at herself. She could still recognize herself if she looked closely but it seemed like maybe to someone else, they could mistake her for someone and come to think of it she did recognize herself. Just as quickly as that thought appeared, her mind instantly grabbed onto the detail, Melissa etheridge. She looked like a cross between herself and a teenage Melissa Etheridge. The hair color wasn't right but otherwise it was unmistakeable.
"Claire" Jennifer said over the phone while she continued to look at the changes in the mirror (deciding that her breasts had indeed shrunk a little but also that her hips seemed a little wider. "Thank you. I mean there are going to be some problems with this...like trouble with people recognizing me...anyways nevermind I don't want to nitpick every detail of your actions. I just want to say thank you. you really helped me out there and...I'm sorry for what happened earlier..."
"It's okay Jenn" Claire responded. "I know you weren't entirely in control of what you were doing. It had to be rough for you and we've been friends for a while so I wanted to help you out. Besides what you did only lasted a few minutes...I can't imagine what it must have been like for you..."
"Well I still feel bad about it. If I can make it up to you I want to. As far as what happened to me...I didn't really fully grasp it as it was happening but in hindsight, it's kind of terrifying. I could feel myself slipping away. Not just my mind but spiritually as well..." Jenn said. "I do have a question or two for you. Why did you make me look like Melissa Etheridge?"
"OH god I did" Claire said nervously over the phone. "Well...it wasn't intentional...the thought of what happened earlier today and I guess it kind of popped into my head. I just wasn't sure what to do with the rest of the curse and well I was just going to change your hair red at first."
"Oh ok...Well...I don't think it is but I have to ask. You weren't intending to do anything to me? I mean personality wise that would have been reflected by umm...this look?"
"What? No...sorry it's just when I thought about what happened earlier today as I was saying the curse, somehow Melissa Etheridge popped into my mind."
"OH ok. hehe. I guess it is kind of funny how we tend to define groups of people by an individual person within each group as that group's representative." Jenn said surprising herself a bit.
"Well it's good to see that your intelligence has returned."
"Hehe yeah. If anything I feel a bit smarter than I had been. Probably that extra focus you gave me at the end of your dare. I guess it allows me to focus in on problems in more depth. I can recall information that I didn't used to." Jenn said. "I also remember who called me. It was Kyle. That guy I was mean to the other day. I've been thinking about it too. I want to get him back but it can't be simple revenge...that would only beget more revenge and that cycle would just continue. I want it to be something fitting so that instead of wanting to get back at us, he'll learn his lesson. Whatever I do it will have to be well thought out so that it won't back fire."
