The ride back to her farm was only a short twenty minutes, but long enough for Mrs. Ranskin to think. "These fools are looking for bodies, or people enslaved, little would they expect to find them as the spirits left them!"
Indeed she was right as Chuck having become the prize stallion of the farm and Marcia merged to be part of his body. The two enjoy a mental conection in conscience thoughts but with Chuck in full control. The Policeman and cousin of Ely Kazan was cursed by the same spirits to be as Marcia but he merged with Mason the Percheron. Sad for Ben Kazan as his mind can not talk with his host as Mason was a true born horse and ignorant.
As the police cruiser roared into the farm's drive and raised a cloud of dust Mrs. Ranskin saw a dozen people. Policemen, and plain clothes people walking in and out the house, stable, smokehouse, and barn.
"You have no right to search my house!" the prisoner exclaimed.
As the car came to a halt, an angry Chief of Police called to Captain Cerns for a report.
"Yes Sir, we found many items which might be used for some sort of witchcraft. She does practice a sort of Wicca religion, the odd part was a leather bound spell book, three silver spell rings, and a list written by her late husband." told Captain Cerns.
"You have no right!" called the prisioner Ranskin from the rear seat.
"The list holds a key to the investagation! In the written list are names upon names of who we classified as lost or missing people for fourty years. Since just after the second world war when the Ranskins moved here from Poland, the list begins and is dated. One of the names on the list was Officer Kazan's cousin Ely Kazan. In the stable is a name plate for the prize winning stud's stall. The name plate says "Kazan" which might help in the search. The stables have a small herd of sixteen pony mares. Some other stall's have name plates as those also appear on the man's list. Hallton, Burk, Hillier, Sanderson, Kyle, Baskins, and more. If you call out the name, a mare jumps to attention. As the animal see's who called, they get upset and become anixous. If I chanced a guess, the man and his misses were working witchcraft. The list is of victims they chage from people to animals. Most as ponies, but some men to bulls, stallions, a couple to dogs, and so forth. I wouldn't make such a suggestion till perchance I saw a Percheron stallion erect a few minutes ago. The fact of a horse erect was not significant, but the extra pair of eyes mounted in the sheath suggested some merger between animal and something else." explained the Captain.
The Chief was needless to say now very interested and with the ring set tucked under his arm he walked to see the Percheron. Mrs. Ranskin was cursing all sorts of words, American, Latin, and Polish.
