"...ask a few questions if you don't mind," I said slowly.
The six dragons looked to each other, shrugged and then nodded.
"We do not mind," Jynx said formally, "Most humans, male or female that are where you are now normally have questions."
"Male or female?" I wondered.
"We do not have some sort of "genetic predisposition" to having only female dragons," Aqua answered, "there have been dragon emperors in the past... and some times emperors and empresses ruling at the same time."
"Made things fairly interesting," Byrn quipped, "or so Mom told me."
"Ignore them with regard to those things," Jynx signed, "As your questions."
I sighed decided to let the quip that Byrn had made go. More then likely it was some sort of inside joke between all of them.
"Where did you all come from?" I asked, "I've never seen dragons before."
"Generally because we are good at hiding and staying out of humanity's way," Jynx answered, "since the Middle Ages anyway. Getting chased and killed by knights was not a fun experience for our race... and since we can not match humanity's birth rates and haven't matched their technological developments, we've done our best to hide. Our kind has some limited magical capabilities and it would be through them that you would become our mate..."
"Wait, magic? So you're like wizards... or witches... no that sounds evil... sorceresses?" I wondered.
"Like the legendary Merlin?" Jade commented, "no. No where NEAR that powerful. Our magic is much weaker and largely uncontrolled. Our "juices" carry enough of it with continued exposure, your body would absorb it and soon you would transform into a male dragon. It is why we'd need you to have sex with us if you do choose to become our mate."
"The other portion of our magic is a sort of aura," Jynx added, "you probably felt it when I first grabbed you. If you refuse, I will return you to where I found you, and after a few moments, the magic in our auras will break down and you'll forget even meeting us."
"But dragons are from Earth... to get back to your earlier question," Breeze replied.
"And you're all queens? Empresses?" I asked.
"Yes," Gia nodded, "We are dragon royalty each to represent various "breeds" of dragon. I am the Empress of Forest Dragons."
"I am the Empress of Fire/Lava Dragons," Byrn added.
"I am the Empress of Sea Dragons," Aqua stated.
"I am the Empress of Air Dragons," Breeze gave me a polite smile.
"I am the Empress of Ice Dragons," said Jade.
"And I am the Empress of Earth/Rock Dragons," Jynx finished.
"And you all want me?" I asked.
"We need a mate," Jynx asked, "Byrn, Aqua, Breeze, Jade, and I all decide matters for all dragons as a group... but with six of us, we do have some tie votes from time to time. It's why our race enters into a polygamist relationship among the royal families. The new Dragon Emperor or Empress, depending on whether the unmated rulers are male or female, in this particular case we are all female... and if you accept... we will share you."
"So you need me to break votes among you?" I asked.
"Basically, yes," Aqua nodded, "but as the pin that holds our "hidden" kingdom you'd gain some additional powers as well with regard to controlling the planet's dragon population."
"But, we'll only tell you that, if you accept," Byrn said firmly.
"Why me? Surely you have male dragons out there already that you like?" I wondered.
"There are," Breeze sighed, "we've found them to be jerks or too ambitious and wanting imperial powers."
"Which is why we turned to transforming a human," Jynx commented, "if you show any of those tendencies that we don't want in an Emperor, we'll return you and you'll forget."
"What about love and all that?" I wondered.
"That will burn fiercely in time," Byrn gave a smile, "It will take time, obviously, as all "romantic" things do... but because you are presently human, you must become a dragon in order for such courtship to occur. Otherwise, we'd be repeating these questions over and over and over again. You should feel lucky. You have the best potential first date any male could wish for."
I looked to all six of them. They easily stood taller then I did, and with them presently seated, they were taller then I was. I found myself nodded in agreement with Byrn. If a man on the street were to go on a blind date, and the first thing the woman said to him was "we need to have sex" the man would likely claim that as a victory beyond all victories. Of course my situation was probably different. The being asking me to take her (and her five co-rulers) wasn't human, and I would actually need to become like them in order to remember and court them properly. You looked down for a moment and then back up at them.
The dragon empresses were all stunningly beautiful in their own way. They had human like characteristics which differentiated them from most fairytale and mythical depictions of dragons. And they certainly weren't enraged hoarders that went to war when someone or something stole their gold... at least he hadn't seen that. After a moment or two, I made my decision...
