Lillian's legs totally merged and expanded into a golden mermail tail. She slid lower in the tub, no longer quite in a seating posistion, to allow her expanding tailfin to hang free over the edge of the tub. As the transformation finished, she realized her legs were bending in a way impossible if she still had knees. She was a mermaid!
The new mermaid slid down into the water, completely submerging her chest and head. It wasn't long before she felt the need to breath. Closing her eyes, Lillian fought instinct and opened her mouth to take a deep breath of water. Her first underwater breath proved far less frightening than she'd imagined. Exhaling, she sat back up in the tub to face her roomate.
"I can breathe underwater! I'm a mermaid!" Lillian exclaimed.
"You are" said Starla. "And a beautiful one too." She blushed.
"I never noticed you blush so much, Starla."
"A part of me always hoped you'd join me as a mermaid, but a bigger part of me thought you never would. And, well, like I said earlier..."
"I never thought of us being mermaids together. But I have thought of us being together."
"That's probably just the transformation talking..."
"It could be" admitted Lillian "except I'd thought of us being together before I saw you as a mermaid this morning. I just never had any idea you found me attractive too so I never said anything; I didn't want to make our friendship uncomfortable."
"Well, now that all our secrets are out" said Starla "do you mind if I slip into something a little more comfortable?"
"Like out of that bathrobe and into the tub?" Lillian responded with a grin.
"Lets do it in the tub, just to be safe" said Starla in her best immitation of Lillian's voice from earlier.
"Don't Freuden slip while you get into the tub" joked Lillian as Starla let her bathrobe fall to the floor.
Starla slid into the tub next to Lillian and blue scales immediately began to form on her legs.
