Zack felt the foreign satyr tendency for mischief stirring in his mind once again. Before he knew it, he was looking at the remote in his hands and studying the various buttons. He noticed one that had a clock on it, one with an arrow pointing up and another with an arrow pointing down. This must change the rate of a transformation, he thought. He scanned Dawn with the remote, then pressed the full body transform button and whispered Satyr. Quickly, he repeatedly pushed the button to slow her transformation in the hopes that she wouldn't notice right away.
Before they had finished walking a block, Zack noticed two small nubs poking out of her hair. He smiled eagerly.
"Ow," Dawn said, stopping to adjust her shoe. "These new shoes...it's taking a while to break them in."
"Why don't you just carry them, then?" Zack suggested. Before she could say anything in response, he was lifting her leg to remove her left shoe. Her foot looked a little swollen in her white socks.
"Hey! Zach, what's gotten into you?"
"Dunno," he lied. "Must be the satyr in me trying to come out."
Dawn laughed. "I still can't believe you're...ha ha! It's even funnier now that I really think about it." She seemed extra bubbly. Perhaps the satyr spirit was biting her, too. Her horns were now quite prominent atop her head, and her hair was changing color to a rusty brown.
Dawn took off her other shoe and carried them as they continued walking. She scratched her leg idly. It wouldn't be long now before she noticed what was happening. Zack looked at the remote for any ideas...to keep her aware or not...or to make the public as oblivious to her as they were to him.
