Now what Becky hadn't told anybody was that last night,while you'd slept,she'd snuck out,tiptoed
back into the library and headed for where she'd seen the microscope and a
slide collection that Elsie kept off to one side.
For Becky knew something about the history of microscopes,so when she'd noticed a
microscope that looked like it designed in the 17th century being used in the twentyfirst,
she'd had to investigate.
First she'd looked at the microscope,which on the back had engraved letters
" RSS Snagr 1649Anno Domin. "
and then she'd looked at the slide collection.
They were labelled "Dragons"
and Becky had slid out the slides labelled
<Dragon Stem Cell Prepuberty" and when she'd put it under the microscope had noted it looked pretty normal,no different
then a human stem cell.
Then had come several slides dealing with
< dragon stem cells post-puberty> and the change was startling.
The post puberty cells were in varying degrees of biggnes,cell membrane
colourations and "microbarbs" jutting out from the cell walls
In some these mutating dragon cells were held together in layers by their barbs,whilst
other slides the barbs had caused the cells to be loose and unattched,like the tissue
layer was breaking apart.
Then Becky had reached for the slide labelled
<dragon stem cell pubertal phase> and thats when the accident had happened.
The slide had seemed tougher to push into the microscopes holding clips then the others.
and she'd pushed too hard and the slide had broken apart in her fingertips,and fragments of
infected glass had cut into her fingertips,too tiny to remove all of them.
She'd calmed her beating heart,then put everything away just as she'd found it.
Then she'd turned off the lights,hurried to the washroom and tried to clean out the wound.
Then this morning,while Jessica and Elsie had been packing supplies,Becky had slipped out the
microscope and put a drop of her blood under it.
Everything had looked normal.
Then before her horrified eyes she'd watched as one of the red blood cells in the
drop of blood had seemed to lighten in colour and triple in size,before darkening again,just
as tiny microbarbs pushed out of it.A human red blood cell had just
transformed into a alien reptillian cell.
That had sent a cold shiver down Beckys spine .
However she'd kept her cool and taken a sample of blood from her large left toe.
In that drop of blood,there were no human red blood cells,just big barbed dragon
cells.
Becky at that point realized she was being changed into a dragon,whatever that was.

So when she trudged with you,Jason and Elsie to meet the harpies,Becky kept feeling
her backbone,to see if she was growing a tail yet.
She also slid her fingers inside her mouth on her canines and molars,to see if
maybe they were sharper.They weren't.
So far the changes hadn't altered her on a macro level yet.
Becky had been idly feeling her arm,which seemed to have less hair on it then it
had a hour earlier.She kept quiet about this disturbing development,and had
followed the others into the harpy cave...
