So setting aside Becky's preoccupation with her own draconic concerns,
Elsie and the harpy doctor had been trying to jog Jasons somewhat amnesia
sotted mind ,to retrieve vital informatiom stored there for centuries.
So it was that the two girls and Jason were led deeper and deeper down a tunnel
that started at the back of the outer cave,till it came
out to a well lit cave sheathed in copper plating,iron girders and
steam pipes.
It looked just like the insides of a old iron and copper seagoing ship,
which it was.
The harpy doctor explained that they were looking at the transplanted
"Harpy and Owl" sections from the fine 17th century Royal Sea Serpente Snagr,
a scandinavian "Dragon ship"powered along by the firebreath of dragons.
Jason still had that blank look,so as they approached a nusery-infirmary
where young talking owls scurried about,the doctor asked the kids to recite
their history lessons about the origins of Monster Island
The talkative young owls started by drawing a picture of a baby harpy,which they were happy
to whoot out,wasn't a harpy,but a newborn owl hatched from its big egg,a baby owl
just as smart as any human baby.
They then pulled up posters of baby centaurs,baby deer-people and baby mermaids.
Jessica gasped as she saw colts,fawns and fish.
That was the point,the anthros started life as intelligent talking animals.
It was only during puberty that the intelligent talking animals either changed into
humanoid animals or bigger versions of their baby selves.
As Jessica looked around the metallic cavern with this new knowledge,she noticed
not all the four foot tall bird people were men and women with the torsos of a
bird,some were 4 foot tall intelligent talking owls,with normal birds wings instead
of human arms ,hands and fingers that had stretched out into a wing shape.
It seemed that puberty was a random affair,where half the maturing teen talking animals
turned into bigger talking animals,half turned into anthro monsters.
And then there were the tiny fraction who normally would have matured into animal minded
animals,and the even tinier fraction who supposedly turned into <GASP> total humans
