Still stunned by his most recent encounter, Tommy gave me another call.
He said to me, “I have no idea what the hell that was. I think Mr. Hastings’ construction company was a hoax all along. I just thought it was a
fledglng business. I’m not sure what to make of this.”
I said, “That’s one explanation. Or, maybe he’s using you to persuade the landlords to open up the space to him at a much more effective
cost, for him and his boss to do business.”
He said, “That’s another plausible explanation. Anyways, have you and Randy bought swimming gear, yet?”
I said, “Nope. I’ve talked to him, and we still haven’t gotten to the mall, yet.”
Tommy replied, “Well, they can’t blackmail me. I always find a way, and my undue confidence always gets me out of trouble. And we have
each other. So as long as we have that, we’ll be fine.”
I said, “Yup. I agree. And why do would they want the lawyers and the police force off their backs? I’m not even among those who’d be on
their prospective radars, I wouldn’t think!”
Tommy replies, “Yeah, I have no clue on that one. Anyways, let’s party at Alexandra’s house in a little bit. I’m sure we’ll have fascinating
discussions.”
I said, “Sounds good. Will meet up with you in a little bit. Gotta help my boy, Randy buy some clothes for us to wear tonight and pick out
swimming gear that’s best for him and me. Gotta go.”
He said, “Alright, brotha. Peace.”
After I hung, Randy and I decided to head to the mall to buy some clothes and swimming gear.
