”Oh? What’s that?” asked Loki.
”Makeup, of course, Mr. Loki,” said Mary Ellen.
”What?” Charles wailed, looking to her father for help. “Dad...”
Steven said, “Now, come on, son--“ then caught himself. “You’re a girl now, and girls wear makeup,” he stated matter-of-factly.
”Very true, Mr. Clay,” said Loki. “And just as with women’s clothing, I know your daughter” -- he strongly emphasized the word, mainly for Charles’s benefit -- “hasn’t had to deal with this before. Therefore, I’ll give her another special ability. She’ll always, magically, be perfectly made up. No need for any cosmetics, no need for cold cream, no need to ever worry about how she looks.”
Mary Ellen gasped. “Why, Mr. Loki, that sounds amazing! That’s something else I wouldn’t mind having myself. You can do that right away.”
Loki waved. Charles couldn’t tell anything was different at first, but then she realized she could see thicker, darker eyelashes out of the corner of her eyes. Her mother gasped again. “Oh, honey, you look so beautiful!”
”She certainly does,” said Steven.
”And I know she’s not used to shaving as a female, so she won’t have to deal with that, either,” said Loki. “She’ll just have nice, smooth skin, with no body hair.”
”My, you’ve certainly thought this out!” exclaimed Mary Ellen.
”I try to.” Loki grinned. “Although looking at her, I wonder...”
”What’s that?” asked Mary Ellen.
”I wonder if I’m giving her every possible advantage,” Loki stated.
