Felix Moreno told his daughter Maria that he'd picked up the bull and cow that Paco had found for him. He was amazed that gringos would try to keep such large animals as pets. He asked if she'd heard from Paco,he needed to pay him his finder's fee. Maria said they hadn't spoken all day, but she'd asked him to stay away until after midterms next week.
Reaching in his pocket he felt the cold round metal of the medallion, and pulled it to give Maria. He told her it was something he picked up. She told him it was too big and garish for her, it looked like something Tomi would put on his sci fi convention costumes. Tomi who was in the dining room studying, appeared in the doorway asking what would look good on his costume. Felix shook his head and tossed his eldest son the medallion. His 23 year old son acted younger than his 17 year old daughter. Alejandro Tomas Moreno was the academic star of the family, and was currently enrolled in medical school. He was also a classic nerd. He was a D&D master, sci fi geek, and internet junkie.
"Well, if you're going to your room to try on your new toy, be sure to clear off the dining room table first, hermano," Maria ordered, she had assumed the role of mother when their mother died in an auto accident five years earlier.
"Si, Maria, pronto," and he vanished out the door with the medallion draped around his neck.
Ten minutes later he had three costumes spread out on the bed and was debating whether it went better with the Centauron Ambassador's purple officious clothing, the Yugioh Dark Magician robes or the Disc World Police Captain Vimes uniform. It might look nice against some black fur, if ever got his werewolf costume together.
He still had time to kill before, Maria would call him to dinner, and he was hopelessly distracted from his studies. He switched on his internet connection, and pulled up the site he'd bookmarked a few months earlier. He scrolled down to the new stories section of www.chooseyourchange.com , and selected the latest were-dragon tale from tigaronso and werechu. He was thinking about nixing the werewolf costume for a rubber dragon instead. Maybe Yugioh's blue eyes white dragon, or a cute orange baby dragon.
He finished the story, and cast his vote. Then turned to look out the window. He watched Paco mounting Mitch out in the pasture. A huge full moon hung on the horizon as the sunset. He thought it would be cool to see the bellowing mating cows jump over the moon. To his amazement, they did just that! Paco and Mitch were terrified when they found themselves airborne rising over a thousand feet above the ground.
Tomi stuck his upper body out the window to watch the aerial display, not realizing that the medallion around his neck was responsible for the lighter than air bovines. Tomi had dragons on the mind. His latest story which he'd worked out, but had been afraid to post, had Tigaronso and Werechu merging to form a two headed dragon when they have a threesome with a witch. In his mind, Tomi imagined the bull and cow flying through the air morphing into a black and white two headed dragon. His thought became reality and Mitch and Paco were horrified to find that they now shared one set of genitalia between them, and realize that they were now bigger than a small jet. The roared in anger and terror. Flying beyond the horizon. Maria called Tomi down to dinner. His revelrie broken, Tomi took the medallion off and headed down to dinner.
After dinner, Tomi was back hitting the books, when his YIM chimed and he answered an im from Werechu telling him that there was a 2 headed dragon on CNN's videostream showing the beast destroying an opera house not 50 miles from Tomi's farm. Tomi flipped on his TV, and typed back to werechu that he could get into a lot of trouble for hacking a digital dragon into a CNN broadcast. He never sent it because the TV showed a two headed black and white dragon demolishing the opera house on a "Live Special News Report." It wasn't just a dragon, it was Tomi's two-headed dragon. It hadn't been a daydream.
The magician screamed as Mitch and Paco held him in their right foreclaw. He was cursing that it had to be dragons. He had no power over dragons. Fire singed his hair. The two headed monster wanted something from him, but he couldn't understand what the dragon's were trying to tell him.
