"Permanent?!" Ben looked back at his equine body. "I sure hope not! We're freaks!"
Cary grinned as he felt his furry thighs. "I don't know. This is so awesome - I feel super good. Stong, and light. I could even go outside with some baggy pants and a big hat."
"Yeah that works for you, but what about us?" Aaron's voice was a little wheezy, giving his words a braying quality. "We'll get locked up! And you will be too, sooner or later."
"Not neccesarily." A new voice came from a dark corner of the bedroom, startling all three boys. It was a boy's voice, and the figure that steped out from the shadows looked a lot like a boy. He was very thin and had glossy black hair and brilliant blue eyes. But there was something about his appearance that wasn't quite right. Cary blinked. "You're an elf!" The others stared - this newcomer had pointed ears.
The boy grinned. "Very good! Can you tell which tribe?"
"Tribe?" Cary shook his head. "Nah, I just guessed becouse fo the ears."
"Well, there are three main tribes of elves: Wood, High, and Drow." The elf chuckled. "But I guess you don't need to know all that. What you do need to know is that these changes are permanent. You'll never be human again. But I can help each of you out with some improvements that will make your new lives absolutely perfect."
Aaron snorted. "Perfect? I'm mostly a donkey!"
Cary looked excited. "Really? You can do magic! Go ahead!" He moved to stand in front of the elf. "I want to be perfect!"
