Feeling great with the sun shining in her face, Nancy leans her head back and closes her eyes. She smells the fresh, but salty sea air as the breeze brush her face. She knows that she’s safe with her family and that they’re at the beach. She can hear her mother’s voice call out to her brother: “Dwayne, don’t swim out too far, or else the currents might pull you out to sea!”
“Don’t worry mom, I won’t!” Dwayne assures. Nancy opens her eyes and look up into the clear blue sky. A couple of seagulls fly high above her head and there’s not a single cloud in the sky. “I just can’t believe I’m going to be a grandmother” Nancy’s mother suddenly says dreamingly. “Huh? What do you mean grandmother?” Nancy asks as her mother confuses her. “I was so happy when we took you to the vet to have you checked if you’re pregnant and the vet told me that I’m going to have six grandchildren” Before Nancy have time to say anything she’s interrupted.
“HEELP! Help me!” They both look out on the sea and see Dwayne desperately fighting to keep his head above the surface. “Oh my god! Dwayne!” Her mother gasps and cover her mouth with her hands. Nancy feels unsure what to do. “Nancy, you have to swim out and save him now!”
Nancy nods and quickly gets up on her feet and starts running towards the water. But after just a few meters she notice how slow moving and clumsy her body is. “You have to use all of your legs, or else you won’t make it in time Nancy!” Her mother shouts behind her. She looks down on her arms and watches them as they finish growing a black coat of fur and her hands change into paws. Her bikini gets teared apart by the change but this doesn't matter as fur already cover her whole body. Nancy is chocked by the change, but there’s no time to mourn her lost humanity. She quickly let herself fall forward and let her paws touch the sand. “That’s good Nancy! Now swim and save your brother!”
Nancy runs as fast as her four legs can carry her and jumps into the water. As she reaches her brother he holds on to her body, towing him to shore. Dwayne catches his breath as he feels sand underneath his body again. Their mother runs to them. “Dwayne, are you alright?!”
“I’m fine, thanks to Nancy” Dwayne answers, relieved and hugs Nancy’s thick neck. “Thanks sis” Nancy pants and tries to resist licking his face, as her tail wags happily. Her mother squats down in front of Nancy and pats her head. “You’re a good girl, a very good girl” She praises.
Nancy wakes up because someone’s nuzzling her. She hears Riley’s voice“Nancy it’s time for food” She slowly gets up on her feet. Why do I have these strange dreams? She thinks to herself, before her hunger takes the upper hand and she walks to her food bowl and starts to eat.
