Nate awoke with a start the following morning. He momentarily thought what an amazing dream he had, turning into a werewolf and killed one of gang of bullies that had tormented him for so long. As he sat up, it quickly became apparent that what had happened to him last night actually happened as he saw blood smears and caked on blood all over his naked body. His torn clothes were strewn about the floor from his violent transformation.
His pulse quickened, both from fear and excitement. Did this mean he would transform every full moon now? He was unsure, but decided he had better get cleaned up. He was actually anxious to hear everyone's reaction to Bruno's gruesome fate.
After washing off all the mud, dirt and blood from the night before, Nate stepped out of the shower and got a good look at himself in the mirror. Gone was his pudgy fat, replaced with a sculpted six pack abs and pectoral muscles. His biceps were nicely developed as well. Clearly his new found lycanthropy agreed with him. He couldn't help but smile as he checked himself out in the mirror.
He threw on a shirt and a pair of sweatpants and grabbed his sheets off the bed. He placed the dirty sheets in the washer and set about making breakfast for himself. He flipped on the T.V and switched to the news.
"...the teen, a student of the nearby high school, was found brutally mauled in the woods. The victim's name is being withheld, pending notification of their family," said the reporter on the t.v
Nate didn't need to know the name, he could see Bruno's Ferrari in the background. Suddenly, the attack came back to him. Stalking them in the woods. Them...he remembered seeing Lorene there, watching her stomp off. He remembered waiting for her to leave, not wanting to scare her. He remembered attacking Bruno, the ferocity he unleashed on him. Payback for all the torment he had dished out to Nate, calling him a faggot, telling him he would kill him. He remembered enjoying the pain he inflicted on him. He remembered as Bruno's friends watched and taunted him along with Bruno, even joining in.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Nate walked to the door and opened it, shocked to find Lorene standing on his front porch. It was clear she had been crying.
"Lorene? What is it?" asked Nate, playing dumb.
"It's Bruno. Did you hear about the kid that was attacked and killed last night?" she said.
"That was him?" he asked.
She nodded. "And it's all my fault."
"Here, come in," said Nate, stepping out of the way and letting Lorene in. They both sat down in the living room. "Now what do you mean it's you fault?"
"I made a wish. I wished that he would get attacked last night. I wished he would get attacked by a..." said Lorene, trailing off.
"By a what?" asked Nate, already knowing what she was going to say.
"By a werewolf," she finished. Nate's heart sunk. "He tried to force himself on me, he would have if I hadn't gotten away. I was angry and I said it and somehow it came true."
Nate remembered feeling drawn to the Lover's Lane area last night, unsure of why. How much control had he had that night? Was her wish a coincidence, or part of the reason his came true too? He debated on whether or not to tell her the truth. They had just started becoming friends and he wasn't sure she'd believe him or think he was making fun of her. Finally, he decided.
"Lorene, I made a wish last night too. I wished..." started Nate.
