"Well then, my dear, we can always go to mom and dad's house," John said with a grin as he bounced back to his feet.
"Your parents... you mean they..." Carrie frowned, thinking things over. She'd met his parents. Several times, and they certainly weren't cartoon rabbits.
"They live here, sure. They just did what I did every time they came to visit. You cross the barrier, you turn human. So I guess technically, you're about to see mom and dad the way they really are for the first time."
"Huh. Well, maybe I'll have changed a bit more by the time we get there..." Carrie said, suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious. Here she was, only partially cartoonified, only a small bit of the way towards becoming her new self - a big fat bunny - and she couldn't help but worry. What if she wasn't bunny enough for approval? What if she'd be shunned for only being partially formed? What if...
Oh, hell. She was John's wife. His parents were at the wedding. They knew her. And they'd be just fine with who she was and who she was becoming.
"Well, lead the way, babe!" she found herself saying. "I'm starving!"
"Oh, but of course, my dear! Scene-changing transition comin' right up!"
"Wait, what?" Carrie asked, but it was too late. The scene faded to black and changed.
