"What do you mean, let my inner beast out to play?" asked Nate.
"Well, you said you wanted to rip them apart. What if I made it so you could do that?" asked Kathryn.
"I think that would be awesome, but how can you do that? I mean, magic and stuff isn't real."
"Are you sure about that?" asked Kathryn.
"Pretty sure," replied Nate. Kathryn just started smiling. Nate felt a hot tension in his left hand. Raising it up, he could feel is tense up involuntarily as he watching each nail on his hand grow out into a inch long claw. His hand and forearm seemed to be growing larger as well as turning a dark grey color. Nate looked down in shock.
"Believe me yet?" she asked. Nate watched in awe as the transformation continued up his arm, strands of coarse black hairs blossoming across is his skin.
"What? Yes, yes I do!" cried out Nate, not sure if he was excited or scared.
"Good," replied Kathryn. Nate watched as his hand slowly turned to normal, the black hairs falling off and dissolving in mid-air. He almost felt sad that it stopped, now that he knew he could be turned back.
"Holy crap! I can't believe that was just happening! What...what was I turning into?" asked Nate.
"One of a myriad of different beasties I could turn you into. What you need to decide is what you want to be turned into." said Kathryn.
"Cool...how do I choose? What are my choices?" asked Nate, suddenly getting excited.
"Tell you what. Why don't you meet me at my house after school. 212 Shadowbrook Road. Do you know where that is?" she replied.
Nate nodded. "Yeah, it's just down the street from me."
"Good. Now get to class," she said.
Nate turned back to Kathryn. "If you don't mind me asking, why me?"
"Let's just say I know what it's like to be different. And it's almost Halloween. Halloween is no fun without monsters," replied Kathryn with a devilish smile. Nate smiled in return and ran from the room.
