The fox groaned in frustration and started walking in a random direction. Pretty soon, he came to a path in the woods. He decided to
follow it. Not long down the trail, he saw someone coming. It was a boy about his age; or, at least, he guessed that from the age of his
human disguise. He had a walking stick and a small device in his hand. Every few yards, he would stop, press a button, and the device
would beep. The fox knew that humans didn't like to be seen without clothes, so he hopped behind a tree and yelled out for help. The
boy came running over
"Hello? What's wrong?"
"Uh...I was robbed," the fox said. His trickster nature allowed him to quickly come up with a story. "Yeah, I was mugged by these two
guys. They took everything, even my clothes. Can you help me?"
"I'm so sorry! Here, take my coat, it's too cold out here to have no clothes!" Though the fox was completely fine in his fur, he took the
coat and covered up. Luckily, it was fairly long and covered his genitals. "What's your name?"
"Uh, Miles. Yeah, I'm from another town, so I'm not really sure how to get home. The thieves probably took my car."
"Tough luck. Well, you can stay with me until you can get home. Come on, I'll take you back."
As Miles spoke with the human, he learned that his name was Zack. He was taking water samples from the stream. His father was a
scientist at the lab that had caused the leak and they were trying to stop it. It probably wouldn't affect anyone else, it was a small leak.
Miles was aware of his luck; the first person he met could help him get answers.
Zack drove him to his house. He gave Miles some new clothes and then asked where he lived. Miles feigned trying to remember, then
acted as though he couldn't. He convinced Zack he had amnesia, he must have been hit over the head by one of the robbers. Within an
hour, Zack's father returned home. He was informed of Miles's made up plight and was offered a home until he got his memory back.
Miles played the good guest. He wanted to really earn these people's trust before he revealed himself. He would have to wait longer for
his return to normal.
