Typing your response and carefully editing, you read and reread for a full minute before pressing ENTER.
*Change my right pinky fingernail from unpainted to painted in bright yellow nail polish.*
Harmless, immediate, and hopefully, without side-effects. Very worst case scenario, you guess you can live without your pinky.
Cringing just a bit, you quickly tap the ENTER key.
Staring hard at your fingernail, not truly believing anything could possibly really happen to it, you are supremely shocked to see a single invisible-brush stroke of yellow drawn down your nail. Immediately, another meticulous stoke follows! A third evens the two out and you suddenly have a single yellow painted fingernail. You try to convince yourself that this is a small thing, really, but this mystery program JUST AFFECTED REALITY!!
A wave of elation and excitement sweeps through you, making your body tingle with anticipation. All your imaginary wishes of the past few minutes and from throughout your life and childhood suddenly flood your mind, and you find yourself struggling to wade through the options. Trying to remember what you just warned yourself about, you decide to take the butterfly-effect theory as an unwritten rule and vow to carefully think each "wish" through before enacting.
"Well," you think to yourself, "I don't really even like my nails painted, so first small thing first..."
*Make it so my fingernails were never painted* ENTER
You watch in amazement as the nailpolish is erased as if a giant remover-saturated-cottonball is rubbing it away. Suddenly you feel a tingle around all your nails as they appear to receive the same treatment, the cuticles and surrounding fingertips now free of any hangnails and somehow healthier looking!
Glancing back at the screen, you realize you DID type "fingernails," plural.
"Wow." you breathe. "This is really happening."
Mentally cracking your knuckles, you get down to business...
