The sun was just setting, and Morgana ordered me to set the table for four, and bring a bag of oats in from
the barn. I had no idea what she was planning or who would be joining us for dinner. She specified a big
basket of fruit and a bag of seed be added, to what I end I could not see, as I was told specifically not to
eat any fruit or seeds.
KA-BOOM! All the alarm bells rang wildly. Blue smoke cleared, and the genie appeared with Aladdin, a pathetic
grey nag on which Abou the Monkey and Jago the Parrot were perched.
"Okay, witch, you breached our pact!"
"I did no such thing! I gave you the panacea, and if you gave it to your true love before sunset, she should
be healthy as a horse," Morgana said.
"She is a horse," growled Aladdin.
"Oh, she is?" Morgana said walking over to the grey nag that had appeared, and asked, "Princess Jasmine, I
presume? She is cured of her malady isn't she?"
"Well, you might say she has a new one, as she wasn't a horse before. Your panacea was supposed to cure her,
now make it right or forfeit the jewels and the carpet."
"Oh, come now, Prince Aladdin, let's not be hasty, my dear. The horse thing is a totally unintended side
effect. If it doesn't wear off at sunrise, I'll make some tests to find out what went wrong. Now since you
will be spending the night, why don't you and your companions join us for dinner."
She clapped her hands and as per previous instruction, I carried in the roast on a platter surrounded with
cooked vegetables. I had wondered why she had told me to wait in the kitchen until she clapped her hands and
then to bring in the main course.
Aladdin looked at genie, and he shrugged.
"I don't know, Aladdin, I suppose it might be a temporary side effect?"
Jago rolled his eyes.
"Some fine victuals for your genie and you, and my apprentice and me, and some fruit for your monkey, seeds
for your bird and oats for your horse." She gestured to the items I had laid out earlier.
Jago raised a wing to his beak and whispered to Abou and Jasmine, "Unexpected? My tail feathers! Those oats,
seeds and fruit were sitting there when we arrived. She was expecting us, and Jasmine as a horse. Whatever
you do don't eat any of the delicious smelling stuff. Jafar used to enchant food sometimes- nasty magic."
Aladdin and Genie were already seated at the table with plates laden with food.
Jago squawked, "Idiot!" as Aladdin took a bite of food.
