"Yes," Jen said, feeling as though a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She hadn't realized how hard it had been keeping the secret from others, even for simply a day.
Ms. Davidson smiled wryly," I thought so."
"You know about it?" Jen asked, shocked that an adult knew about the curse. She'd always figured it to be a rumour, a child's tale, at least until she ran afoul of Kyle Perkins.
"Yes, dear, I know all about it. Most people in this town have either had it used upon them, or know someone who has. Some have benefitted greatly from it, while others have suffered untold levels of trauma from it. Once many of us reach adulthood, we simply try to forget about it. We shun it away, into the backs of our minds, not wanting to believe the things we know are true. But still the curse carries on."
"Ms. Davidson, which was it with you? Did you know someone, or were you affected by it?" Jen asked.
