I woke up in the loft of the barn alone. It didn't really surprise me that Maedel had wandered off last night, she must have been pretty upset. However, that left me totally unprepared for what I saw when I went into the kitchen. Morgana was at the counter in nothing but an apron making pancakes, and Maedel was sitting at the table fast asleep.
"Um good morning?" I said as I sat down next to Maedel.
"Morning Sara. You ready to get back on track?" Morgana said as she levitated a plate with pancakes on it over to me.
"What do you mean on track? And what are we going to do about Connie's army? And why aren't you dressed?" I asked.
"Why, back to transforming princes of course. Did you really think I was gonna let a little thing like total relocation stop me from doing what I love? And don't worry about Connie and her army. I'm sure we can handle it." Morgana said with an evil smile. I didn't usually refer to Morgana as evil. Perverted, strange, a good cook, and slutty maybe, but not evil. This look though, it was like the face a demon makes when he watches a soul being burned. It as smug, satisfied, hungry, and altogether unsettling. I tried to distract myself from it.
"And the apron?" I asked.
"Well, I'm washing my outfits after the move here, but the apron was all nice and clean. Plus, it's so soft against me, all lacy and silky and-" Morgana said, clearly trailing off into something I didn't want to hear.
"Please stop." I said. After that, I ate the pancakes and listened to Morgana talk about her recipes for breakfast and her plans for princes that came. The way they blended together was somewhat disturbing, but explained why her food seemed to be enchantingly better than other food. After a while, we could hear someone outside.
"Ooh, my first guest ready to throw a house warming party! Wake up Maedel, I want her to be able to mingle." Morgana said. She was officially off her rocker, but maybe that would turn in favor of the prince outside.
