Lily and Rose looked at each other. It appeared that neither of them wanted to be the first one to make a
decision. To my surprise it was Rose who spoke first. “Lily, I really, really want to do this,” she said.
“It’s what I’ve always wanted. But I’ll say ‘no’ if you don’t say ‘yes.’ You’re more important to me,” she
concluded
Lily looked genuinely touched. She looked at me. “I have to know a few things,” she said.
“OK,” I said.
“Where would we live?” she asked.
“In my castle,” I said.
“Where is that?” she asked.
“Hidden in the woods,” I replied. “Out of sight and protected from being found.”
She asked, “What about our lives? I mean…our jobs, family, all of that.”
“We can take care of it,” I said. “We can make sure everything is arranged however you want it.”
“What would be expected of us?” she asked.
“Nothing, really,” I said. “Just to enjoy the experience.”
“I meant…” she stated. “What I mean is…you said ‘brides.’ So you expect that we give ourselves to you…
sexually. Right?”
I stopped to think. The idea of forcing myself on them seemed quite wrong. On the other hand, my darker side
told me that it was my right. I was the one with all the power after all. “I would have to say ‘yes’ to
that,” I answered.
Lily didn’t appear thrilled with that answer. Rose’s face revealed little. I cheated and again read their
thoughts. Rose, it seemed, had never actually had sex with a man, despite her bisexuality. She was looking
forward to her first experience with a man and felt that I would be a good partner.
As for Lily, she was more experienced and had been with men. She was uncertain about me. Apparently I wasn’t
quite her type. I was too non-descript, too average in appearance for her. I was a bit hurt by this and it
showed on my face.
Lily said to me, “You just read my thoughts again, didn’t you?”
“How did you guess that?” I asked.
“I didn’t guess,” she said. “The look on your face told me. Sorry to hurt your feelings.”
“Oh, dammit, Lily,” whispered Rose. She looked anguished at her lover’s cool response.
“It seems that Lily doesn’t find you attractive, babe,” said Colette. Evidently she also read Lily’s
thoughts. “Rose finds you perfectly acceptable, though.”
“Sorry again if that hurts you, Chris,” said Lily. “That’s how it is.”
“Could anything change your mind?” I asked.
Lily shook her head. “You can’t change your looks,” she said. “That’s not a vampire power.”
I looked at Colette. She smirked out of one side of her mouth. “Give us a moment,” I said. Silently I
wished that Colette and I would be back in our bed chamber. Once our surroundings changed I turned to face
Colette. “I’m a little irritated by this,” I said. “Are you still willing to try?”
“She’s getting on my nerves, too, but I really want to do this for Rose,” said Colette. “Let’s see what she
wants.”
I wished for Rose and Lily to be in the bed chamber with us. They suddenly appeared on the bed sitting next
to each other. They both looked shocked. Lily immediately rose from the bed. “It would seem we have more
powers than you think,” I said.
“Where are we?” demanded Lily.
“The main bed chamber of my castle,” I answered. “Now you might think we’re being pushy, and frankly we will
be. So is your only reluctance that you don’t find me attractive?”
Lily folded her arms. “Frankly, yes,’ she answered. “I’d love to be a vampire, you know that. But I can’t
agree to be a ‘bride’ if I’m not attracted to you.”
“Very well,” I said. “Now suppose I could change my appearance to your liking. What would you have me
change?”
