Eve waited in her seat for Pre-Calc to begin.
*Sigh*
She watched the rest of the class around her, and she imagined all of them being stranded in the middle of the
Atlantic Ocean, where she was the only one without a life vest. As she looked at them all, all the girls and
boys, they ignored her, and she tried to persuade herself into feeling that she liked it that way.
You might think that Eve was ugly, or had some sort of personality defect, but no. She was very pretty with
her long red hair, pale skin, and emerald eyes, and she was also a smart, funny, and knowing young lady. But
there was something about her that put her off to people. Every so often, she would speak in a voice that
wasn't her own. A young man's voice. Once when she was thirteen, out of the blue, she became obsessed with
finding out who Paul Hodgson was, a name that she had saw in giant block white letters while she was asleep.
Once her research paid off, she discovered that he belonged to some family across town that neither Eve nor
either of Eve's parents had ever heard of. She never had fully gotten rid of her imaginary friend either,
called Tim. Sometimes she would talk to him during lunch in the cafeteria when her one and only friend, Pete,
didn't show up or had a schedule that conflicted with hers. Tim was nerdy, quite nerdy in fact, and he was
where Eve picked up a lot of information on various academic topics(and not so academic topics like Doctor Who
trivia) that she otherwise wouldn't have had time to learn in between the ballet classes her parents signed
her up for, cheerleading(she was not popular, but since she was pretty and athletic, she was given a spot),
and hang out time with Pete.
Some of Eve's peers had taken to calling her "Bella", after the withdrawn and stuck up heroine from those old
"Twilight" movies, because Eve had been seen as acting somewhat like her. Other's called her "Sybil", for more
obvious reasons.
Sighing again, Eve continued to wait for the new teacher to come in, the old bat who she's had since September
suddenly retiring. Eve began to think about the concept of past lives, wondering who she may have been before
she was born.
The classroom door opened, revealing the new teacher.
