About two minutes after Janet had left to get drinks, Steve was still sitting at the video poker when all of
the sudden someone sat down beside him. "I'm sorry but this spot is reserved for somebody." Steve said as soon
as he glanced and saw it wasn't Janet.
"That's too bad, I had a good feeling about this spot." the gentleman said.
Steve turned to offer a polite apology but soon found his jaw had dropped. "Oh my God! You're Johnny 'The
Hammer' Helms!" Steve couldn't believe it, his all time favorite baseball player was sitting here. Right here.
Next to him! Johnny looked amused and after realizing what a dork he must sound like Steve tried to play it
cool. "Well, I mean, if you've got a good feeling about this spot and my friend isn't back yet, then who am I
to stop you from playing a few hands and having a friendly conversation."
Johnny just smiled and said in a coy way, "Thanks for the offer. You seem to know about me, but I feel out of
place, I don't know a thing about you."
"Oh I'm just your run of the mill, everyday, baseball enthusiast. I was there in the crowd the night you hit
three home runs against the Angels, you were great."
"Why thank you. I think I might have even seen you in the stands that night Miss...."
I highly doubt that. I hadn't even seen this body til earlier today. "Donaldson. Um, Stephanie Donaldson."
"Well Miss Donaldson Stephanie Donaldson. Let's play some poker."
The two continued to play video poker and had some friendly baseball talk for a while. The two seemed to have
great chemistry and were fast becoming friends. Even though he would have much preferred to have this happen
to him as 'Steve' he could still brag about the experience to his buddies and not be lying about the whole
thing. After playing for a while Steve said, "Damn, looks like I've almost run out of money, I should probably
step away from the machine before I go broke."
"Well if you're already running low on money you could at least let me take you to dinner as payment for the
fun we've had."
Steve was so tempted to just say yes. But knew that might not be the smartest thing to do. "I'm sorry but I'm
still waiting for my wi-uh my best friend Janet. I don't know what's taking her so long, I really should go
find her."
"This casino is huge, if you did that it could take forever for you to find her." Johnny scooted his chair
closer to Steve so that nobody else could hear, "I've got a bodyguard close to me at all times. You and I will
head off to dinner in the fancy casino VIP room, and as soon as your friend gets back, my bodyguard will send
her straight to us for dinner. All my treat."
"Well..." Steve was very tempted, and Janet would know where he was so she could join them.
"It's the least I could do for the fun we've had today."
"I'm in." Steve said giving into temptation, "But if I don't here back from Janet by the time we're done than
I'm going to have to skip desert and find her."
"It's a date." Johnny said with a smile. Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into Steve thought to himself
uneasily.
