“This is too weird.” Looking around my room, I said, “It’s like Carl never even existed.”
I sat down on my bed and started to cry. Sitting next to me, Erin said, “Being a teenage girl isn’t that bad.”
Hugging me, she said, “Being a genie is a plus.”
"Ea-Easy fo-for you-you t-to say." sobbing I said. "You we-were bor-born a-a gi-girl."
Letting out a sigh, without thinking, Erin said, “I wish you were my sister; then Carl would still be here.”
Realizing what she said, Erin gasped and said, “No wait, I didn’t mean…”
Only it was too late as I cried freely, saying, "Granted."
Suddenly the room shifted back to a boy’s room before our eyes; with Carl appearing in front of us. Both Erin
and I screamed; causing Carl to jump back. “Whoa! I didn’t mean to scare you two!”
In shock, I said to myself, “What happened?”
Erin and I turned pale; as we both stared at Carl. Looking at us, Carl said, “You two don’t look so good.”
Grabbing his coat, which used to be mine, Carl said, “Come on, I’ll walk you two home.”
I felt like I was going to faint; as I’d not only lost my identity but my family as well. Taking my arm, Erin
said, “Thanks…Carl, but we can manage.”
“Okay.” Looking at us, Carl said, “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
