Erin and I were silent during the walk back to…our house; both of us in shock over what had just happened. In
the span of 24 hours my life had changed forever; not only did I become a female genie but I’d also become my
best friend’s sister.
As we walked into the house, we saw that our parents weren’t home yet. Still silent, the two of us walked
upstairs, only to stop when some pictures caught our attention. Where before there had been pictures of Erin
in her softball uniform, at prom, and graduation; now there were various photos of the two of us.
As I looked at the photos, it was hard to deny that we were sisters; I saw photos of us at Erin’s lake house,
at prom and graduation. There were even photos of us as little girls.
I hadn’t realized Erin was next to me until she placed her hand on my shoulder. “I’m sorry, Carly.” Pausing,
she said, “I always wanted a sister; but not like this.”
I looked at her, but didn’t say anything as I continued up the stairs. Walking into what was now our room, I
found that it had changed like everything else. It was larger than it used to be, with a walk in closet and
bathroom on one side; as well as a bunk bed in the corner. It was definitely a room for two teenage girls.
As I sat down on the bottom bunk. Erin spotted a purse on the desk that hadn’t been there earlier. “Wonder if
that’s yours?”
Carrying it over to me, I took it and opened it up. I found the typical items you’d find in a girls’ purse;
makeup, cell phone, etc.
Taking my new ID out, I saw that my name was now Carly Cunningham and that I was now Erin’s twin sister.
Placing everything back in the purse, I lay down and curled into a ball. “I-I guess it could be worse; at
least I’m…in a familiar family.”
Lying down next to me, Erin looked at me and said, “We’ll get through this, Carly.”
“If you don’t mind, I’m like to be alone for a while.” Sitting up, I said, “Call me from the lamp when…our
parents get home.”
Looking at me, Erin said, “Okay…sis.”
Flashing a week smile, I poofed myself back to the lamp.
