I was woken up a short time later by Erin gently shaking the lamp. “Carly, wake up.”
Popping out of the lamp, I appeared on the bed next to Erin. “What?”
“Our…parents are home.”
Judging from the expression on Erin’s face, she was also having a hard time getting used to this new change.
For me it was even weirder, thinking of her parents as my own was a little unnerving.”
Walking into our room…Mom said, “Hi girls, how was Greece?”
“It was interesting; but we missed you guys.” Pausing, Erin said, “Even Mike.”
I surprised a laugh; as Mike was now my little brother. He was somewhat of a pest, but at 14 that wasn’t
unusual. From the reactions on their face, I knew that hadn’t changed when I was wished into the family.
However, as was typical, there was no sign of him,
Looking at me, Dad said, “What about you, Carly?”
“It was…life changing.” My last visit to the lamp hadn’t been enough; so I was tired and in no mood for
conversation, I said, “We’re really tired from the jet lag.”
“I’m not surprised.” Pausing, Mom said, “Your room is…”
Realizing mom was pointing out that the lights had been off, Erin said, “We know; we were sleeping.”
Guilty looks appeared on mom and dad’s face, as they realized they’d woke us up.
