I wasn’t asleep for very long before my siblings returned home. I was lying in bed when my door burst open,
with Marissa and Alexa running into the room.
Embracing me, they both yelled, “Carly, you’re home!”
Still half asleep, I hugged them and said, “Hey guys, I missed you so much.”
As we broke the hug, I noticed one major difference from the old reality. Before I’d been about 5 inches
taller than Marissa; but now we were the same height. Looking at me, she said, “How was your flight?”
“It was good; long but good.”
Looking at me, Alexa said, “We missed you; Alan wouldn’t do anything with us.”
“That’s because all you two wanted to do was girl stuff.” Standing in the doorway, Alan said, “It sucks being
the only boy.”
Looking at my younger brother, who was now much taller than me, I walked over and said, “Hey, Alan.”
“Hey Carly.” Hugging me, he said, “Welcome home, sis.”
The four of us spent the next ½-hour or so reconnecting; it didn’t matter if reality had changed, I still
missed them. As we talked, it became clear that although I was still close to Alan, it seemed that in this
reality I had more in common with my sisters. That did make sense, considering I was a girl like them.
“Well, not exactly like them.” Pausing, I said to myself, “They don’t have genie powers.”
The rest of the evening went by uneventful; I enjoyed a nice dinner with my family. After finishing dinner, I
remembered that I was supposed to go to Erin’s house.
Walking into the kitchen, I said, “Mom, I’m spending the night at Erin’s.”
“Okay, sweetie.” Looking at me, Mom said, “Have fun.”
