After Haidar finished his pizza; which he seemed to enjoy, he said it was time for me to continue my training.
As I sat on the bed, I said, "Why do I have to be trained? I don't even want to be a genie."
"If you don't undergo training; you'll be deemed non-releasable." Looking at me, with a serious look on his
face, Haidar said, "Meaning you'll be stuck in this lamp for all eternity."
That was enough to make me go pale; as I had no intention of being trapped in this lamp for eternity. Looking
up at Haidar, taking a breath, I said, "Ok-Okay, I'll und-undergo training."
"Good choice." Sighing, Haidar said, "Your first lesson for today is concentrating when using your powers."
Haidar proceeded to teach me how concentration was important when it came to my powers; even a momentary lapse
in concentration could cause problems.
That was made readily apparent during my first practice; when I tried to conjure up a bottle of water, only to
lose concentration and have a bucket of icy water poured on me. Glaring at Haidar, as he struggled to suppress
a laugh, I said, "That wasn't funny!"
While I was concentrating on the image of the water bottle, Haidar had conjured up an air horn to distract me.
Looking at me, he said, "You have to learn to ignore distractions around you, Carl; otherwise you could end up
with something far worse than a bucket of ice water."
After calming down, I conjured up a dry outfit before continuing my training. Thankfully as the day went on, I
got better at keeping my concentration. Haidar finally left around 5:30 in the evening; leaving me alone in
the lamp once again.
