A Game of Change

Game Start

added by Corvish 10 years ago A BM

As Doug idled and tried doodling a little picture of what he'd look like in his warrior half-rabbit form, he
didn't notice the carpet beneath his feet twisting together into plants and growing. He didn't notice the
wooden table he sat at slowly growing roots and ensnaring itself into the floor. He didn't notice his own ears
growing longer, or whiskers growing from his face. He didn't notice, and was so engrossed in trying to make a
cool half-rabbit warrior that two small, brown goblins began sneaking up behind him, armed with a chipped
rusty dagger.

Doug looked up, trying to check how long he was drawing for, when all he saw was dark forest surrounding him.
He hopped up in surprise, and noticed that he hopped a lot higher than he usually did. He spun around and saw
the two goblins, who were surprised as well at his sudden movement.

"Wh-what?! Goblins?!" Doug yelled in surprise.

"Scrrrghhk! Th-the Hoo-man noticed usss! Scatter, scatter!" The goblins rasped, and fled into the darkness of
the forest.

"What the--?! Where am I?" Doug panicked and looked around, wondering where he had gone. He looked back to the
drawing he drew of his character, which now sat at an old stump instead of the wooden table before.

He looked around for the box that had the rest of the game's information, but it was nowhere to be seen. All
that's left of his previous setting was his drawing...

Doug hopped over to the drawing and picked it up in disbelief. Before he could do anything, the drawing
seemingly exploded in a thick puff of smoke, obscuring his vision and clouding the little forest clearing he
sat at.

Doug coughed and wheezed, and shooed the smoke away until it dissipated. He saw that he was wearing the armor
he drew for himself, though it wasn't dragonskin armor as he had originally hoped. It was simple bronze armor
for now. As he examined his new clothing, he also took this opportunity to notice how different his body's
shifted. Patches of fur covered certain places, such as his elbows and knees, and from his hair to his spine.
Doug was sure there were more patches, but right now was more concerned about getting to safety than to
examine what he had become.

"Wha... I... I'm a half-rabbit myself...? What kind of game did I just get myself into...?" Doug held his head
and sat back on the stump. He knows he wanted to start in a beginner forest, but now that he's here, he wished
that he wrote down 'beginner town' instead. He felt his long ears lower as his mood dropped.

"Ah... All right. I've got to calm down, and get to some kind of town." He took deep breaths, and tried
thinking. "...Ah. Which way do I go...? This forest is pretty dark and it's hard to tell if I'm going the
right way." He sighed and got up.
