...a fish tail! A light blue tailfin emerged from the other side of the hot tub. Marina tried to wiggle her toes but instead the fin moved slightly, as if trying to wave. Feeling started to return to Marina's legs again, but they no longer felt the same. She suspect that was because "they" were now "it". Marina hit the button to turn off the hot tub and waited for the water to stop bubbling. As it did, she could see what had been her two legs was now indeed a single appendage: a dark blue tail. She was now a mermaid!
Trying not to panic, Marina tried to deciede what do do next. She decieded the first thing she needed to do was get out of the water. Using her arms, Marina lifting herself out of the hot tub and sat on the edge. Examining her tail, she was not surprised to find it was covered in scales. The scales extended up to where her waist had been.
She grabbed a towel and slid onto the tile floor. Thinking of what it was like swimming with her monofin, Marina concentrated and moved her tail. It did not take long to determine it was moving in ways legs could not.
Was this change permanent or temporary? Would she change back if she dried off? Then she remembered the medallion still hanging around her neck. Could that be the cause of her change? Was it magical? But magic wasn't real! Then again, neither were mermaids. Maybe just taking off the medallion would change her back?
