Hippies and trollsand witches?
The Earth was obviously experiencing a temporal dimensional warp of some kind
and we discovered that horrid fact when the ipod turned into a much bogger
and clunkier tube type ham radio.
I hastily shrieked and dropped the expanding mutating iPod
as it turned into a 1965 Heathkit 5 tube transciever before my
eyes.
Miraculously the fall did not break the tubes and after
mom switched the thing on,she turned the dial to the shortwave band and listened to
Radio Moscow announce that Soyuz 1 had had a accident apon landing.
About 1967
Dad rummaged in his hippie bellbottoms and stared in horror at
his Draft Notice card.
Dad was a draft dodger.
Kim and mom carried the portable battery powered transciever
between them and we dodged trolls and polka dot dragons as we made our way
back to the abandoned barn.
Along the way we turned on the Heathkit now and then, and
caught up on the Vietnam War,Gemini and other breaking news.
Finally we made it to the barn and were surprised to discover it too
looked newer.
Dad kept staring at his draft notice and mom and him
discussed whether to make a run for the Canadian border.
Inside the barn sat various farm machinery,as well as a 1949
Ford pickup truck.
Dad checked under its hood, then stole a 6 volt battery from a
McCormick W6 tractor and with a little practice, got the truck running.
We all piled in and dad cursed and swore as he shifted the
standard tranny and we headed back into the night.
Kim felt around and found some marijuana in the glovebox....
