"Greeting, Tyler!" the man said to Ty, as he stood there in front of him, just a few feet away from the water, wearing nothing but his navy speedo.
Suddenly, Ty recognized the man and remembered who he was. Then he got an awful feeling, that this time, he was going to take away his powers for good. As Ty walked closer to him, he became very nervous, to the point where he started shaking.
"Today, you were put to the test, Tyler." he said to the boy.
"Please, don't take away my powers! I didn't do anything wrong and I didn't hurt anyone! Please!" Ty pleaded, to the point of tears.
"Tyler, you were very brave just now, and for that you will be rewarded. Trust me, your reward will be greater than the powers you have right now. First I need to take what you got now." Prince said, as he waved his hand in front of Ty.
Ty felt an emptiness, he felt lightheaded as something was taken out of him. He was normal again, his powers were gone. All of it. He was a normal, fifteen year-old boy once again.
He knew it and he felt it, as he started crying like a little, helpless kid.
"Stop crying, my boy. You haven't received your reward yet!" Prince said calmly, with a smile on his face.
Ty felt horrible, all his powers were gone. He felt empty and weak, and he wondered why it had to end like this, why here, on the beach?
"Come stand closer to me, boy, so you can claim your reward." Prince said to him.
Ty had no idea what Prince wanted to do to him, but in a way, he didn't care. His powers were gone now, so what else did he have to lose? Fearing that Prince was going to hurt him more, he reluctantly walked a step closer to the tall man.
Using his right hand, Prince pressed the palm of his hand to Ty's forehead while holding Ty's head straight in the back with his left hand. He pressed his hands against Ty's head so hard, it started to hurt him. But suddenly Ty felt a new surge of power go into his own body, from his head all the way to his feet. He felt more alert, more awake, and stronger. His senses seemed enhanced, his sight, hearing and smell were greatly improved. When Prince was done, he gently embraced the boy. Then he let go, took a step back and looked him in the eyes.
"Enjoy your new powers, Ty. You can now do everything you were able before, and more. You are stronger now, and you have some abilities which you will need to discover on your own. Don't hurt anyone, help others, and you will continue to grow more powerful. If you need me, you will know how to contact me. Good luck, Tyler. I am proud of you." Prince said, before he vanished in thin air.
Ty stood there, facing the beach, looking out over the ocean. It felt like he was just awakened from a weird dream. As people walked by him, he heard their voices, but he also picked up on their thoughts, almost without even trying.
Then he slowly walked into the ocean water, dove under and wished himself to be a merman again. In an instant, his legs fused together and formed a great, blue fin. Delighted that he had his powers back, he went for a swim. He could now beathe underwater, and he went to the deep end.
Then he suddenly heard Dustin's voice, calling out his name. Wow, he could even hear him while he was under water. Ty went back to the surface and saw his brother standing there, calling his name. And Ty wondered where they would go next? But he had his powers back and he felt stronger than ever! And that was the most important thing to Ty.
