Jake just gave his brand new underling a disdainful look. "You can have fun with Derek if that's what you want to", he curtly replied. "But remember we have a job to do, so keep it quick, 'kay?".
"Yes, Boss!", Connor dutifully exclaimed. He seemed really happy and relieved to have someone ordering him around and telling him what to do.
"I'll send you Derek in the private restroom", Jake continued, tapping with a finger on his wristwatch. "You have ten minutes, no more. And get him a new pair of shoes, he can't work with his feet bare".
After finding a still confused Derek near the Accessories aisle and explaining him where Connor was, Jake sighed and fished out of one of the pocket of the jacket a pair of stylish, black-rimmed eyeglasses, balancing them carefully on his wide nose; they gave him a smart, sophisticated look, and he loved it. He didn't need Connor to explain him anything: the Shop had already imbued him with all the knowledge he could have possibly needed. The only thing missing was obviously a customer to help.
