It was deeply unusual for Beth to step back down on the damp earth as a porcine creature. She had never imagined
herself like this, and the feeling was a strange one. Aside from the bizarre physicality of it all, she was also
growing accustomed to mental changes, animal urges that she couldn't quite put in human terms.
The pigs were herded into a special area, allowing Beth and her mother to be together for the time being. But
there was an air of uncertainty that she couldn't quite understand. And then a farmhand approached the pen and
looked out over the herd.
