Mom handed the ring back to Nate. "That's pretty cool, you must have found that at the mall."
"Yeah, I did," replied Nate, slipping the ring into his pocket. He stuck his tongue out at his brother while
his mom wasn't looking.
The three finished their dinner and then Mom asked Chris to clear the table and do the dishes since Nate had
cleaned earlier. Nate went upstairs to play on his computer.
Roughly twenty minutes later, Chris came up and walked by Nate's room and watched him for a moment through the
open door. He thought to himself and wondered if the ring would turn him into a dog if anyone said the spell.
Chris pulled out his phone and opened the web browser and searched for the words to the spell. Soon enough, he
found it.
A smile crossed his face as he uttered the words, barely above a whisper. "In canis corpore transmuto."
Chris looked up and sure enough, he saw the white and black fur growing out on his head a bit. Chris smiled,
knowing this knowledge was going to be sweet as he walked back to his room.
Nate felt an itch on his face and scratched it. He was shocked to feel long strands of hair. He cried out an
ran over to the mirror above his dresser.
"No...please! This isn't how it's supposed to work!" He looked down at his arms as the white and black fur
grew in and his nails turned black and grew out into claws. In a few moments, he was a dog again. He dropped
to all fours and walked over to the door, pushing it shut. He climbed up on his bed and laid down. He thought
to himself, I didn't say the spell, how could this happen?
