Christian Bondesan was a scruffy looking man in his late thirties. He had the rough, hardened appearance of
someone who had gone through a lot in his life, and looks weren't deceiving. He currently ran a shady business
out the back of his garage selling fake ID cards to those asking for them. His average customer tended to be
under-aged teens from the nearby college wanting to get into clubs and bars and to get their own alcohol.
However every now and then he'd get a more interesting clientèle, the type wanting to start a new life for
themselves. Chris never asked them why, just as long as he got paid.
Chris had just come back from the docks with a large package in his tattooed arms, a machine known as the
Chronivac. He had heard a lot about it on the black market, an incredible device said to be able to literally
change the appearance and lives of a person, yet it was extremely rare to find. He had finally managed to
acquire one through one of his respected contacts, and for a reasonable price as well. It was like the guy was
desperate to get rid of it. He plugged the clunky device into his laptop and went through all the set-up. This
was surely going to bring a boost to his business. Any old person could make a convincing looking ID card, but
nobody else would be able to completely change how a person looks to match the life they want.
It didn't take long to install the intricate software. Chris opened it up and he heard a loud beep as the
machine started to whir. In a matter of moments, it had automatically scanned him and entered all his details
onto the laptop. He scrolled through the pages of information, surprised at just how much he was able to
change. Age, gender, weight, hair length, eye colour, foot size, sexuality, intelligence, job details,
awareness, it had everything. It even went into the fantastical such as becoming an animal, a mythical
creature, or even an inanimate object. He was getting sceptical. Sure the machine had managed to get every
single detail right about him, but could it really change things in the real world? It seemed unlikely.
He had to test it for himself. He couldn't just tell people he could do these incredible things, only for it
to fall flat in his face. He'd lose his credibility to everyone. He'd try something small first. He navigated
the program, sporting a surprisingly easy and simple interface given the complicated tasks it was able to do,
and found what he was looking for. He clicked on the hair colour option and changed it from black to dirty
blonde. He accepted the change and a little tingling sound confirmed it. He left the laptop and walked up to
the full-length mirror he'd placed in the garage for those wanting to see their transformation. Instead of the
jet-black hair staining his body like he was accustomed to, it had lightened to a brownish hue. He watched as
colour kept appearing in the previous darkness until it left him with a mix of light brown and darkish blonde
hairs. A quick tug on his hair confirmed it was his, along with a look at the several strands he'd yanked out.
The thing really worked. He looked back to the Chronivac with a devilish smile. He was going to get so rich
off this thing.
